GPS accuracy and route quality

How accuracy affects accepted route points.

Tam can reject low-quality points or avoid crediting an implausible jump. Indoor spaces and dense buildings commonly reduce route quality, and power-saving or a phone buried in a bag can make the problem worse. A breathable mesh holder can be preferable to a dense or metal-lined enclosure because it improves exposure and cooling, although it cannot create a GPS signal where the environment blocks one.

What to do

  1. Enable Precise Location.
  2. Keep a clear sky view and adequate battery when practical.
  3. Avoid treating noisy indoor traces as exact paths.
